First Aid Level 3

Basic Fire Fighting

Description:

This essential course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to prevent, manage, and respond to workplace fire emergencies. Learners will gain a clear understanding of how fires start, how they spread, and how to act quickly and safely to protect lives and property. The course begins with an introduction to fire safety principles, including the fire triangle, the different classes of fire, and the proper use of portable fire extinguishers. A strong focus is placed on preparedness and planning. Learners will be guided through the process of developing a fire safety plan, conducting effective fire drills, and ensuring all staff know their roles in an emergency. Health & Safety Representative

Description:

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to workplace health and safety, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to create and maintain a safe, compliant working environment. Participants will gain insight into the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and its associated regulations, with special focus on the most important sections that apply to their workplace. CPR & AED Training

Description:

This comprehensive course provides in-depth training on how to respond quickly and effectively when a person collapses due to a medical emergency. Participants will learn how to recognize the early warning signs of cardiac arrest and other life-threatening conditions, ensuring that action can be taken without hesitation. Through practical, hands-on sessions, learners will develop the confidence and skills to perform high-quality CPR step by step. The course also covers the safe and effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a crucial device that can help restore a normal heart rhythm and dramatically increase the chances of survival.

Participants will gain an understanding of when and how to call for professional medical help, as well as how to keep the patient safe and stable until advanced care arrives. Emphasis is placed on acting calmly under pressure and working as part of a coordinated emergency response.

HIRA/Risk Assessment

Description:

This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to identify, assess, and control health, safety, and environmental risks in the workplace. It is designed to help learners understand how to create a safer working environment by proactively recognizing potential hazards and implementing effective control measures. Participants will gain a clear understanding of basic health, safety, and environmental principles, learning how these concepts directly relate to their specific workplace processes and procedures. Description:

The qualifying learner achieving this unit standard will be able to perform basic control and confinement of hazardous materials operations within the capabilities of the resources and personal protective equipment available.
